A BIT OF HISTORY

Shown below is CCMGA’s first logo as it appeared on the first bag tag.
It featured what at the time was thought to be the world’s largest green.
It was used for holes 1, 5 and 10. The logo was created by Roger Pattee,
VP of the association's first Board of Governors. More about Mr. Pattee
in the December newsletter.

AND THE NOMINEES ARE.. For a two-year term on the Board of Governors beginning in January 2003: Gary Applegate, Don Chambers, Denis Johnson, Ken Kerner, Bill Mrozek and Connie Richey. Current board members seeking re-election are Don Henkel, Dick Higgins and Tom McConnell. Six seats on the board need to be filled in this election. Ballots will be distributed at the November 15 Annual Meeting or you can vote by proxy. Proxy ballots will be available later this month in the pro shop, from Dick Higgins at the Thursday Razz, or on ccmga.net. To be valid, proxy ballots MUST be placed in the slot in the lower locked drawer of the CCMGA Box in the pro shop by the computer. Ballots not signed or properly filled out will not be counted. The deadline for receipt of a proxy ballot is Monday November 11 at 5:00 PM. IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO IN NOVEMBER As always, some serious golf will be played in the Two-man Team (gross and net) Championship on Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and 17. On Saturday the front nine will be a scramble, the back nine a modified Chapman Scotch. Sunday will feature one best ball on the front side and both balls will count on the back side. All players will tee it up from the Blues. The maximum difference between handicaps is 10 strokes. The team entry fee is $50 with the field limited to 132 players. The entry deadline is 5:00 PM Sunday November 10. DECEMBER BRINGS OUR MEMBER GUEST Introduce a friend to the CCMGA and our course at the annual Member-Guest Tournament on Saturday December 21. It’s an 18 hole best ball, gross and net event. Remember your guest must have a current USGA handicap or play at scratch. Play will be from the white tees. The entry fee is $40 per team and includes a gift for you and your guest. The entry deadline is 5:00 PM, Sunday December 15. HAVE PLAQUES NEED NAMES We are still looking for the names of the early winners of the Club Championship and the President’s Cup. We believe these events were first held in 1984 or 1985. If you know who these winners were, or know someone who does, please give the names to President Jim Denmark or any board member. We want the names on the two plaques to be as complete as possible. SIGN UP NOW FOR '03 Yearly CCMGA dues will remain at $70 for 2003. Application blanks will be available at the banquet or you can pick one up from the CCMGA Box in the Pro Shop. Completed applications with your check for $70 payable to CCMGA can be given to Tom McConnell at the banquet or deposited in the locked, lower slot in the CCMGA Box. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- PARTY TIME Hold Friday evening, November 15 for our Annual Meeting and Banquet. The festivities will get under way at 6:00 PM at the Postal Workers Union Hall at 3720 W. Greenway. Dinner will be followed by the election of new board members for 2003, and a Calcutta for the Two-Man Team Championship. The banquet is open to all CCMGA members at no charge. To give us an early head count, please fill out the form below, clip it out and put it in the BANQUET BOX in the pro shop. Name______________________ I will attend the Banquet______ I prefer ____Chicken____Steak -------------------------------------------------------------------------- YOUR WERE RIGHT, WEREN'T YOU? A foursome is a match in which two play against two, and each side plays one ball. A four-ball is a match in which two play their better ball against the better ball of the other two players.
