were posted for handicap purposes. RAZZ scores do not qualify as tournament scores.

Note: Tournament dates for all Phoenix Municipal Courses are allotted by the Parks
and Recreation Department and are fixed. However, the 2008 Board of Governors has
the option to change the types of tournaments played, and the order in which they
are played. Any changes will be reported to the membership promptly.

ALL HAIL TO OUR CHAMPIONS

The President's Cup produced a bit of drama when a scorecard playoff was necessary
to name a winner. When all the calculations were done, David Fruth was declared the
winner over Peter Knezinskas. For the tournament, both shot net 139's.

Deja vu comes to mind when congratulating our 2007 Club Champion, David Bray. With
this year's win, his name will appear on the Club Championship plaque for five of
the past six years. And it should be noted that he did not defend his title in 2006.
His gross score of 137 topped his nearest competitor by four strokes.

ALSO NOTEWORTHY

Todd Shappart's ace on number eight in the Club Championship and Jim Denmark's
67 in the Sergeant's Cup Matches.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.

The Board of Governors Nominating Committee is currently seeking candidates for the
five seats open on the 2008 Board. .

Members interested in filling those slots must be able to give two years of their
time to monthly board meetings, committee work and volunteer service.

Computer literacy is a must. The bulk of the board's business is conducted by E-mail,
and all but a handful of our members have computer access.

New blood is essential to the growth and vitality of any organization. To place your
name in nomination, suggest a member you feel would be a good candidate or have
questions about board service, please contact one of the following members of the
Nominating Committee before October 30.

Harmon Morell – 623-537-4561 or hmorell@cox.net
Jim Denmark – 602-722-5115 or jamark60@hotmail.com

vARIETY MARKS NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER TOURNAMENTS

Want to get down to the nitty gritty? Try the Two Man Team Championship
to be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18.

As with all our "major" tournaments, all players, must have within the past 12 months,
played in at least two official CCMGA tournaments in which scores were posted for
handicap purposes.

If you are in doubt about your eligibility, contact our Handicap Chairman, Craig Munsey,
at camldm@msn.com. RAZZ events are not considered official tournaments.

Introduce a potential new member to CCMGA by inviting him to play in our annual
Member/Guest – Member/Member Tournament to be held on Saturday December 15.

Everyone wins in this event as all players receive a special free gift from the
association. When entry forms are available, get yours early. This tournament has a
history of standby lists.

JUNIOR GOLF WINS AGAIN.

Our annual 50/50 Raffle held during the Club Championship put $342 into the Junior
Golf coffers. Our thanks to all the ticket buyers who helped make it possible for
more needy youngsters to take up the game of golf, and benefit from the life lessons
it teaches.

A GOOD INVESTMENT.

Today, seventy bucks might get you one round at a high end course, fill up your SUV
with gas, maybe buy three dozen golf balls.......OR renew your membership in CCMGA.
That's right, your board has voted to again hold the line on dues for the seventh
straight year. And all the benefits of membership still apply: You know what they
are but you might want to pass this item on to a potential new member: monthly
tournaments that appeal to all handicap levels. a summer "beat the heat" event,
the Thursday RAZZ to keep your game sharp and competitive, the opportunity to get
involved in Junior Golf or Board activities, membership in the Arizona Golf Association
which gives you a USGA handicap good anywhere you play, an annual banquet at no
additional cost and most important, the association with other members who, like you,
want to foster good fellowship while preserving the integrity of the game.

You can renew now for next year by filling out a membership application blank
available in the CCMGA box in the pro shop or on ccmga.net. Applications and someone
to take your check also will be available at our Annual Meeting and Banquet on November 16.

An important reminder – any member who has not renewed his membership by December 31
will be dropped from the rolls, and will be unable to post scores in 2008 until his dues
are paid.

THE SERGEANT"S CUP REMAINS IN OUR HANDS.

The 2007 Sergeant's Cup Matches ended in a 6 – 6 tie. But by virtue of having won the
cup in 2006, it remains in CCMGA's possession for another year.

Six man teams representing the Cave Creek Staff and your Board of Governors battled
right down to the wire during three days of modified Ryder Cup formats.

While the competition was fierce, Captains Buffy Labombarde and Allen Sadberry agreed
that the opportunity to further cement the excellent relations that exist between
their organizations was the matches' greatest benefit.

The matches are named in honor of the late Chuck Sergeant, a member of the original
Cave Creek Pro Shop staff.

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT'S DESK.

Following the necessary prep work, overseeding got underway the week of October 8th.
The course reopened for play on October 20.

Please keep your carts in the rough as much as possible to give the rye grass a chance
to germinate.

To give more definition to the eighth hole, pine trees are being planted in the rough
areas. Their future growth depends on how well they survive the remaining methane gas
in the soil.

Otherwise, the newly resodded eighth fairway is coming along nicely, and the rest of
the course is in playable shape.

WILL YOU BE COMING?

CCMGA will host its 2007 Annual Meeting and Banquet on Friday, November 16 at the Postal
Workers Union Hall at 3720 W. Greenway Rd. The doors open at 6:00 PM. Dinner will be
followed by the election of new board members for 2008. The banquet is open to all
current CCMGA members at no charge.

If you are planning on attending, please put your name and entree preference (chicken
or steak) on the BANQUET LIST in the pro shop, or E-mail the same information to
ogbadger@aol.com. We appreciate your help in giving an early count to our caterer.

SPECIAL EVENT.

Participants in the Two Man Team Championship will hold their annual "Pickum" event on
Friday, November 16 following the adjournment of our Annual Meeting and Banquet.

ANOTHER BANNER YEAR.

CCMGA is a "players" club. It is not unusual to have more than 100 players in our
monthly tournaments. The same can be said for the Thursday RAZZ.

We've added more than 100 new members so far this year, a tribute to the recruiting
powers of our longtime members.

We appreciate the support you have given to Junior Golf, and your volunteer efforts
when needed.

The Board of Governors salutes you!

Allen Sadberry, President

FINAL WORD.

"There are three ways of learning golf: by study, which is the most wearisome; by
imitation, which is the most fallacious; and by experience, which is the most bitter."

Robert Browning – "A History of Golf."
