COMMITTEE WORK OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS

CCMGA members interested in taking a more active role
in Association affairs are encouraged to participate in
committee work. Just call the appropriate chairman and
tell him you’d like to sign on for full or part time duty.

MEMBERSHIP COMMUNICATIONS

Newsletters will be mailed to all members quarterly in 2003
due to increased postage and printing costs. Space limitations
will also not allow us to print tournament entry forms in
the newsletters. And it should be noted that those we did send
out last year were seldom used, as most members seemed to prefer
picking one up in the pro shop or downloading one from our web
site. And that’s where you will find them for all 2003 tournaments.

We also encourage all members who have Internet access to get your
name and E-mail address on our web site Directory.
Every member who gets his newsletters by E-mail means one less
stamp we have to buy. Currently more than 50 members have signed
on, and we’d like to see that number grow to 100 this year.
Another place to look for CCMGA news is on the glass enclosed
bulletin board in the Grill. We are currently re-doing it to
make room for more items.

THANK YOU...

A 'thank you" for our HOLIDAY PRESENT to THE PRO SHOP
On behalf of the Pro Shop Staff, Head Pro, Mark Campbell, says
everyone is pleased with the new printer purchased by your
Association to replace one that was worn beyond repair. We were
glad to be able to help out at a time when city funds are tight.

IN 2003 I WILL..

Fix all my divots, pick up the pace of play, turn in all my scores,
observe all the rules of golf, support the CCMGA.

DON’T BE A STRANGER

Your Board is not a closed corporation. It welcomes your ideas
and suggestions, and the opportunity to squelch rumors before
they get out of hand. Just contact any board member. If they don’t
have an immediate answer, they will get one for you. If you’d prefer
to address the entire board, just contact the executive secretary
at ogbadger@aol.com so time for your remarks can be scheduled at
the start of the next regular board meeting. The purpose of
scheduling is to make the best use of your time and the board’s.
Board meetings are held on the Tuesday following each scheduled
tournament and begin at 6:00 PM. Directions to the meeting will
be given at the time the appointment is made.

WHAT HOLE IS THIS????

As you may have noticed, time and vandalism have eliminated, or
rendered unusable, the old markers that gave you the tee number
and the yardages. Soon, however, sturdy, weatherproof replacements
will begin appearing thanks to a cash contribution from your
Association. Our support for this project was in keeping with our
Mission Statement, which includes 'funding course improvements'
when we have the funds to do so.

SPEAKING OF IMPROVEMENTS

We were able to fund the marker project because your dues and
those of over (cont’d)400 other members allowed the Board to
include course improvements in the budget. We’d like to top
the 400 mark this year so we will be able to do more for you,
the course, junior golf, the high school golf tournament and
maintain our web site and other membership communications.
And just think of what we could do if every member got just
one more member. It’s an easy sell: For the bargain price
of $70 you get:
*An official USGA handicap plus a golf magazine through
membership in the Arizona Golf Association.
*The chance to play for prizes in a variety of monthly tournaments.
*The fellowship of golfers with like interests.
*Access to our web site ccmga.net where you will find our newsletter,
tournament applications and results, member’s directory, member’s
forum, international golf news and links to other golf web sites.
*An annual banquet at no extra cost.

ABUSES COULD LOSE IT

The purpose of Internet posting has always been clear - for occasional
posting only. Unfortunately, a number of members are abusing the privilege.
In some cases, it appears it would be impossible to play the number of
rounds posted in the time frames shown. Almost every course is equipped
for score postings, and that’s where the USGA, the AGA and your Board
expect the vast majority of your scores to be posted. In fact, it’s
easier doing it at a course than at home. This year, your Board will
be tracking Internet postings closely. If the present trend continues,
your association, as do all golf clubs, has the option of suspending
the privilege of Internet posting.
