RAZZ FLIGHTING CHANGE

The Razz has enjoyed unprecedented growth. But that growth has not been without its challenges. A field of more than 125 players can mean flights of more than 30 players using our present four flight limit.

In response to player input, the Board has approved a RAZZ Committee plan to use our tournament guideline of dividing the field into flights of 16 to 24 for RAZZ events beginning on February 2.

This change means the RAZZ will often have more than four flights. For example, if we have 120 players, we would probably have six flights. The additional flights will result in a narrower range of handicaps in each flight, and more equitable competition.

Flight sizes will be equalized as much as possible, but all players with a given handicap will be placed in the same flight. Handicap ranges within flights will vary from week to week based on the strength and size of the field. This means that a player may be in D Flight one week and Flight E the next depending on the field of players. Flight assignments will be determined at the conclusion of the event based on the handicaps of the participants.

Prizes will continue to be paid equally (gross and net) within each flight based on the number of players in the flight.
