4th QUARTER TOURNAMENTS
Always a fun event, the ABCD Hot Ball Scramble will be held
on Saturday, October 29. Players will rotate in ABCD order
to determine the “hotball” player. The “hotball” player will
record his net score which will be added to the three player
scramble score on each hole for the team’s total score. For
more details, see the entry form in the CCMGA box in the Pro
Shop or on our website, ccmga.net
The Two-Man Team Championship, our last “major” of the year
will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 19/20.
It’s not early to be looking for a partner for our popular
season-ending Member/Guest, Member/Member Tournament. The
date to mark on your calendar is Saturday, December 17. Many
members use this tournament to introduce potential new members
to CCMGA. As an added incentive, all players will receive a
gift from the Association.
SEEKING YOUR VOTE...
Candidates for the five open seats on the 2006 Board of Governors
are: Mike Audisio, Dennis Johnson, Harmon Morell, Craig Munsey,
Ted Nelson, Chuck O’Connell, Arnie Reah and Allen Sadberry

or vote in person at our Annual Meeting and Banquet on November 18.

placed in the ballot box in the Pro Shop by 5:00 PM, Wednesday,

WELL DONE!
Our congratulations to David Bray, our 2005 Club Champion. His 138
winning total included a memory book 64 in the Saturday round. David,
it should also be noted, placed second in a very strong field in this
year’s City Championship Tournament.
And not to be overlooked for well deserved recognition, Derry Snyder,
the winner of our first ”major” of the year, The President’s Cup,
JUNIOR GOLF WINS!
The big winners in our annual Putting Championship and Long Drive
Contest were the kids who are the future of golf in our country.
Half the proceeds, $134, went into the Junior Golf coffers at the
Creek. Our thanks to all the participants. The Putting Contest
ended in a five way tie. Taking top honors with scores of 11 were:
Matt Branham, Ron Dyson, Tom Munn, Fred Schuerman and Gary Van Slyke
In the Long Drive Contest, Ted Nelson won the 45 and under age group
with a prodigious blast of 321 yards. In the 45 to 59 group, Bryon
Rempal’s 299 yard effort was a winner. Ray Quinnell stroked it 269
yards to top the Senior Division.
DUES REMAIN UNCHANGED
CCMGA dues for 2006 will be $70, the same amount the Association
has charged for the past several years.
You can renew for next year now by using a membership application
available in the CCMGA Box in the Pro Shop or on-line at ccmga.net.
Applications, and someone to take your check, also will be available
at our Annual Meeting and Banquet on November 18.
An important reminder – any member who has not renewed his membership
by December 31 will be dropped from the rolls, and will be unable
to post scores in 2006 until his dues are paid..
CCMGA "CALVARY" TO THE RESCUF
Due to some inexperience on the part of the organizers of the annual
High School Invitational, Resident Pro, Mike Swartz and his staff
had their hands full getting it underway. Then along came Jimmy
Denmark and his volunteer crew of David Bray, Don Chambers, Chuck
Hearne, Kyle Howard, Eli Johnson, Bill Mrozek, Paul Nicholas, Ray
Quinnell, Jim Rodgers Fran Wolcott and Jim Zito.
After the last putt had been holed, Mike told Jimmy that CCMGA’s
volunteers provided the extra help needed to make the tournament work.
Thanks, Mike, but lending a helping hand when needed has long been
high on CCMGA’s agenda. Your Association also provides the trophies
and refreshments for this event.
YOU'RE INVITED.
CCMGA will host its 2005 Annual Meeting and Banquet on Friday,
November 18 at the Postal Workers Union Hall at 3720 W. Greenway Rd.
The doors open at 6:00 PM. Dinner will be followed by the election
of new board members for 2006.
The banquet is open to all current CCMGA members at no charge. To
help us give the caterer an early head count, please fill out the
form below, clip it out and put in the BANQUET BOX in the Pro Shop.

COURSE IMPROVEMENTS
Course Superintendent, Bob Lytle, says overseeding efforts will
be a priority the first part of October. This summer, some tee
boxes were leveled and resodded. Look for new benches, funded by
CCMGA, on selected tee boxes before the year is out.
A TRADITION REVIVED.
After a year’s hiatus, the Sergeant’s Cup Tournament was played
last month. This three day event uses a modified Ryder Cup format,
and pits the CCMGA Board against the Cave Creek staff. The
competition was spirited. When the last putt had been holed, the
Board had retained the cup by a 7 to 5 margin. However, judging
by the players comments, the big winner was good fellowship. It
was an opportunity for the Board and staff to get to know each
other better, and they made the most of it. Board President, Ken
Kerner and Lead Professional, Diane Escobedo, agreed it’s a tradition
well worth preserving. The matches are named in honor of the late
Chuck Sergeant, a member of the original Cave Creek Pro Shop staff.
PICKUM AND WEEP
This traditional Two-Man Championship event will be held on Friday,
November 18 at our Annual Meeting and Banquet. All teams will be on
the block when the action gets underway right after the election of
new board members.
.
