CERTIFICATEGATE REVISITED
Your board continues to work with the Parks and Recreation Department
on an acceptable method of distributing and redeeming the merchandise
certificates we issue as tournament prizes. Dale Larsen, Assistant
Director of the department, is now working directly with the board,
and he will continue to do so until a permanent solution is found.
At the present time, what Mr. Larsen describes as a "brief experiment"
is in place. Certificates won in the Club Championship Tournament can
be picked up in the pro shop until July 7th. Certificates not picked
up by that date will be mailed to the holders at the city's expense.
In the meantime, Parks and Rec. will be developing procedures for the
handling of gift certificates that will address the accountability
issues raised by the city's auditing department. When the pro shop
staff has been trained in these procedures they will be put into
place, hopefully in the next few weeks. According to Mr. Larsen, work
also is proceeding on a long term solution; a computerized point of
sale system.
Your board's goal is a system that is "user friendly" to all our members.
Unfortunately, this is a complex issue, and we appreciate your patience
while the details are worked out to our satisfaction.
CHECK YOUR CALENDARS
Our annual meeting and banquet will be held this year on Friday November 14
at the Postal Workers Union Hall at 3720 W. Greenway. A pre-tournament
reception will be held on Friday November 7 at a location to be announced.

WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR
The home course advantage helped as the Encanto team took the Encanto Cup
this year. Papago took second, our team finished third and Maryvale was
fourth. We were well represented by Captain Craig Munsey, Ron Boothby,
Frank Covello, Tony Felner, Ken Kerner, Pete Knezinskis, Ken and
Steve Demarcus, Rich Marten, Dave Simmers, Scott Weyrauch and Fran Wolcott.
