SPREAD THE WORD
Our annual mid-year membership sale kicks off on July 1.
From that date until August 31 you can join CCMGA for the balance
of the year for just $50.
From September 1 to October 15 you can become a member for only $40.
After October 15 you can become a member for just $15 provided you
purchase a full year’s membership in 2006 for an additional $70.
We don’t have the space to list all the benefits of membership in
CCMGA, and that’s where you come in.
You know why you joined and can express those thoughts better than
any printed material could. Try out your spiel on a friend, or a
newcomer you’d like see become a member. We think you will be
pleasantly surprised at the results.
AT THE "CREEK", GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING
Work is progressing on a new cart barn. A new fleet of electric carts
should be delivered in early July.
The site of the former cart barn will be converted to a patio. Weather
permitting, it should be a comfortable place to have a cold one, get
a good view of several holes and watch a sunrise or sunset.
In August, a new electronic communications center will be up and
running in the Pro Shop. Among other things it will allow tee times
to be made 24/7 by phone or computer. Electronic tee sheets can be
quickly updated.
A full time call center will allow the staff to make customer service
their first priority.
Better yet, it will make the handling of gift certificates hassle free.
New carpeting and a new counter to house the electronic equipment will
enhance a customer friendly atmosphere.
Available software allows the system to be tailor-made to the city’s needs.
As to course improvements:
Superintendent Bob Lytle has made his needs known to the city’s Golf Division.
High on his list is sod for fairway bare spots and reconstructed teeing grounds.
The work will proceed as quickly as staff and budget constraints will allow.
Your board added its voice in a letter to the head of the Golf Division
specifically asking that priority attention be given to bare spots on
holes six, eight, and nine, rerouting and improving cart paths on holes
six, eight and nine and leveling and re-sodding the tee boxes on holes
one, two, six, 10, 12 and 18.
And would you believe, the city is going to repair the road into the course.
What 'repair' means wasn’t explained, but any improvements to the current
roller-coaster ride will be appreciated.
"SHOOTOUT GIVES NEW MEANING TO TGIF
Some say it’s a better way to unwind than a “happy hour.” Find out for
yourself at the next Nine Hole “Shootout” to be held on Friday, July 22.
This outing is flighted with all players guaranteed a minimum of three
holes. After three holes, players with the highest combined net score
are eliminated. This process of elimination continues over the remaining
holes until two winners in each flight are determined. Look for more
details on entry forms to be out early in July.
DID YOU KNOW...
If a ball when not in play, falls off a tee or is knocked off a tee by
the player in addressing it, it may be re-teed without penalty. However,
if a stroke is made at the ball in these circumstances, whether the ball
is moving or not, the stroke counts but there is no penalty. (11-3) The

SAGE ADVICE

you play the course as you find it.” The Principles Behind the Rules of Golf
